WhatsApp introduces view once photo and video feature for desktop apps

WhatsApp features: WhatsApp previously removed the View Once feature from its Web and Desktop versions for enhanced privacy, per reports from WABetaInfo. However, in recent weeks, the company decided to reinstate this functionality.

As per the latest update, users can now find the button to set an image as a View Once message within the caption bar in the drawing editor on WhatsApp for Windows. This capability extends not only to Windows but also to macOS and linked devices, broadening its accessibility.

The recent expansion of the View Once feature encompasses WhatsApp Web, allowing users across different platforms to utilize this functionality. This feature allows the sending of photos and videos that can only be viewed once, preventing them from being saved in the device's storage, ensuring a higher level of privacy.

This functionality is currently accessible to select users who have updated to the latest versions of WhatsApp for Windows, WhatsApp for macOS, and WhatsApp Web. The rollout is expected to reach more users in the following weeks.

Additionally, reports suggest that WhatsApp is developing a new feature for Android that will showcase profile information within conversations, appearing under the contact name when the user is offline, and alternating with the last seen information if available.
