Transport tender scam: Court sends Ashu’s aide, Cong councillor Sunny Bhalla to 2-day remand

Ludhiana, October 13: A Ludhiana Court on Thursday sent former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu's close aide and Congress councillor Gagandeep Sunny Bhalla to two-day remand in connection with alleged irregularities in transporting foodgrains. Notable, Vigilance Bureau arrested Congress leader and Ward 54 councillor Gagandeep alias Sunny Bhalla on Wednesday. Sunny had joined the bureau's investigation into grain-lifting tender irregularities in August. During the investigation, it was discovered that Bhalla assisted Ashu and his aides - contractor Telu Ram and commission agent Krishan Lal Dhoti Wala - in carrying out the tender scam. This is the case's fourth arrest. The three main accused - dismissed deputy director of food and civil supplies department Rakesh Kumar Singla, and Ashu’s personal assistants (PAs) Meenu Pankaj Malhotra, and Inderjit Singh Indi – are absconding.
