PTC Web Desk: In a dramatic twist worthy of a crime thriller, the Rajasthan Police have arrested Anuradha Paswan, a 32-year-old woman infamous as ‘Looteri Dulhan’ or looting bride, for conning at least 25 men across different states through fake marriages.

Operating under various aliases, Anuradha Paswan would portray herself as a financially struggling but traditional woman ready for marriage. Her backstory was always the same: a helpless woman with an unemployed brother, seeking a respectable match. But behind this façade lay a well-organised fraud syndicate.

Her gang, posing as matchmakers, would charge potential grooms around Rs 2 lakh to seal the deal. The wedding—either in a temple or at home—would follow customary rituals. She would play the role of an ideal bride and perfect daughter-in-law, charming her way into the family’s trust. Days later, she would drug the food and flee with cash, gold jewellery, and valuables.

One of her victims, Vishnu Sharma from Sawai Madhopur, was duped just two weeks after his wedding. Having taken a loan for the marriage, Sharma lost jewellery worth Rs 1.25 lakh, Rs 30,000 in cash, and a borrowed smartphone.

Taking a cue from her own playbook, the Sawai Madhopur police orchestrated a reverse sting operation. An undercover constable posed as a groom, and she fell into the trap. She was finally arrested in Bhopal, bringing her multi-state marriage fraud saga to an end.
