Ludhiana vendor's viral video sparks health scare after using boiling oil to open plastic pouches | Watch
PTC Web Desk: A disturbing video filmed near Ludhiana’s Gill Chowk has gone viral, raising serious concerns about public health and street food safety. The footage shows a local street vendor preparing fried snacks by dipping sealed plastic oil packets directly into a large wok of boiling oil.
The plastic pouches melt upon contact with the hot oil, releasing their contents — and likely dangerous chemicals — into the food. Experts warn that such practices could lead to the leaching of toxic compounds like Bisphenol A (BPA) and dioxins, both linked to hormonal imbalances, cancer risks, and other serious health conditions.
In the video, the vendor can also be seen handling the food with bare hands, with no regard for basic hygiene standards, further fuelling concerns over food safety.

The video, which has been shared extensively across social media platforms, has sparked public outrage. Citizens and health activists are demanding immediate intervention from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and local municipal authorities to crack down on unsafe food practices in the city.
Medical professionals have urged the public to remain cautious while consuming street food and called for strict monitoring and licensing of food vendors to prevent similar incidents in the future.
