PTC Web Desk: In a surprising makeover at the Oval Office, US President Donald Trump has replaced the iconic 145-year-old Resolute Desk with the lesser-known C&O desk. While Trump insists it's a “temporary change” for refinishing purposes, speculation is swirling—was this switch influenced by a certain 4-year-old’s sticky moment?

Elon Musk’s son, X Æ A-Xii (simply called X), recently stole the show during a press briefing on Musk’s role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency. The toddler, standing near the historic Resolute Desk, made headlines—not for his policy insights, but for mimicking his billionaire dad, making odd noises, and, most memorably, picking his nose.

Fast forward, and Trump—who has openly called himself a germophobe—shared a picture of the Oval Office’s new setup on Truth Social. In a note attached to the post, he clarified: “A President, after the election, gets a choice of 1 in 7 desks. This desk, the ‘C&O,’ which is also very well known and was used by President George H.W. Bush and others, has been temporarily installed in the White House while the Resolute Desk is being lightly refinished—a very important job. This is a beautiful, but temporary replacement!”

The Resolute Desk, a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880, has been a centerpiece of American history. It has been used by nearly every US president since, except for Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford (1964-1977).

While there is no official link between X’s viral moment and the desk’s removal, the timing has certainly raised eyebrows—and possibly a few tissues.
