Uttar Pradesh man happy after wife elopes with lover, says 'at least he didn't end up like Raja Raghuvanshi'
PTC Web Desk: In a surprising turn of events, a 23-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh expressed relief after his newlywed wife eloped with her alleged lover—just days after their marriage. The man, identified as Sunil, said he was glad his life wasn’t ruined and compared his fate to that of Raja Raghuvanshi, the Indore man who was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover during their honeymoon in Meghalaya.
Sunil had tied the knot with a 20-year-old woman on May 17. She stayed at her in-laws’ house for nine days before heading to her maternal home. However, instead of returning, she reportedly ran away with her alleged lover 10 days later. Concerned, Sunil lodged a missing person report with the local police.
On Monday, the woman walked into the Bisauli police station and clearly stated in front of her family and officials that she wanted to live with her lover. According to police sources, both families agreed to part ways peacefully after returning the gifts and valuables exchanged during the wedding.
“We only asked for our gifts to be returned. She was with us for just eight days before she eloped,” said Radha, Sunil’s sister-in-law.
Sunil, who had planned a honeymoon in Nainital, said he was grateful the situation didn’t take a darker turn.
