Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll Results 2023 Highlights : AAP candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku makes impressive win in Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll Results 2023, by giving tough fight to Congress' Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary.
Meanwhile, owing to a low turnout of the voters of just 54.70 pc for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll which took place on May 10, the fate of 4 top contenders sealed for high-stakes Lok Sabha seat made the results more interesting.

The counting of votes for Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll began at 8 am amid tight security.
Security has been tightened and all other arrangements put in place for counting of votes for the high-stakes Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll that witnessed a four-corner battle among the BJP, Congress, SAD and the ruling AAP.
The key contest was between the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Violation during Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll
During voting of Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll on May 10, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Baba Bakala in Amritsar Dalbir Singh Tong was arrested in Jalandhar today for allegedly violating the model code of conduct and later released on bail.
According to the model code of conduct, no person from outside the polling constituency can remain in the area after the campaign period is over without the permission of the Election Commission or a valid reason.
Meanwhile, Congress MLA from Shahkot Hardev Singh Laddi Sherowalia said that Tong, being an outsider, was in Shahkot, which comes under the Jalandhar parliamentary constituency.
Sherowalia and his supporters even blocked the AAP legislator's vehicle and called the police. Opposition party leaders have accused the AAP of violating the model code of conduct by deploying outsiders at several booths, a charge denied by the ruling party.
Notably, the May 10 Jalandhar LS bypoll was necessitated following the death of sitting Congress MP Santokh Singh due to a heart attack in January. There are a total of 16,21,800 voters, comprising 8,44,904 males and 7,76,855 females and 41 transgenders, in the constituency.
The Punjab Government has also announced a holiday in Jalandhar district on May 10, 2023 in view of the Lok Sabha Byelections to facilitate the voters to exercise their franchise to vote.
