Two LeT terrorists surrender during encounter in J-K's Kulgam
Kulgam (Jammu and Kashmir), July 6: Following an encounter in Kulgam on Wednesday morning, two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists surrendered to police and security forces.
Jammu and Kashmir Police have identified the surrendered terrorists as Nadeem Abbas Bhat of Reshipura, Qaimoh, and Kafeel Mir of Mirpura, Qaimoh. Both were members of a newly recruited LeT module.
According to police, these youth were brainwashed and tasked to carry out anti-national acts and killings at the behest of the LeT and ISI.
Based on specific information from JK Police about the presence of suspected terrorists in the general area of village Hadigam, Kulgam, the Indian Army and JK Police started a joint cordon and search operation in the area on Tuesday night. Cordon was laid in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Terrorists opened fire on security forces from within the suspected houses during the search.

According to police, both terrorists were recently recruited local youth, and their families were trying to integrate them into society. Despite being under fire from the terrorists, the forces exercised caution and did not engage them. Terrorists were kept in the house with the utmost restriction by the Army and JKP.
In addition, the families of both terrorists were taken to the site of the encounter to plead for their surrender. The parents and security forces issued repeated surrender calls till the morning. Both terrorists eventually surrendered by handing over their weapons. They were afterwards handed over to the police. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.
