Vigilance Bureau arrests EO, clerk of Ludhiana Improvement Trust on corruption charges
Ludhiana, July 14: The functioning of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust has come under scanner. The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Thursday arrested Executive Officer (EO) Kuljit Kaur and clerk Harmeet Singh on corruption charges.
The Vigilance had received a complaint from one Satnam Singh that despite taking money, both Kuljit Kaur and Harmeet Singh had not been executing his work. After receiving the complaint, a Vigilance team raided the office of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust Thursday morning.

A large number of police personnel were deployed. The accused had been demanding money for processing and finalising his case of ‘one time settlement’ of default payment for a booth alloted to him by the LIT in Rajguru Nagar. Harmeet Singh had assured the complainant of getting the job done.

SSP Vigilance Bureau Surendra Lamba said investigation was underway. The accused have been taken to Mohali. It is learnt that Kuljit Kaur is close to former Punjab Cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu.
