Viral video: Delhi hotel denies room to Kashmiri man; police reacts

Ahead of allegations on Hindi film ‘The Kashmir Files’ spreading hatred towards Kashmiri Muslims in several parts of India, a video showing a Kashmiri man being denied room in a Delhi hotel went viral over social media. A Delhi hotel, registered under Oyo Rooms, which is facing heat nowadays allegedly denied accommodation to a Kashmiri man even after he showed his valid proof including passport and Aadhaar card. The man had previously booked a room in the hotel through the Oyo website. When being asked the reason for not letting him in, the woman can be seen making a call to her senior manager and asking him to talk to the guest and tell him why he was being denied accommodation. Kashmiri-man-denied-hotel-room-in-Delhi-4 Being instructed by her manager, the lady told the Kashmiri man that they have been instructed by Delhi police not to accommodate any Kashmiri resident. Noting the incident, the Delhi police clarified the issue and tweeted that no such instructions were given by Delhi police regarding any of the Kashmiri residents. The Delhi police wrote, “A purported video is viral on social media wherein a person is being denied a hotel reservation due to his J&K ID. The reason for cancellation is being given as direction from police.
