WATCH Fire in Russia shopping mall prompts mass evacuation
A mass evacuation took place in a supermarket in St. Petersburg, Russia on Saturday after a massive fire eruption. All 800 people, including personnel and customers, were evacuated. The major fire that broke out in the Lenta supermarket quickly swept the entire building and also spread to the roof.

According to the media sources, the roof of the store had collapsed on an area of 3,800 sq. meters. However, there were no reports of any causality.

A preliminary investigation was done and the data revealed that an electrical malfunction indicates the cause of the fire. The malfunction of the electrical equipment under the roof of the shopping center was the primary cause.

Another emergency services source told Sputnik that two helicopters had been alerted at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg to extinguish the fire. Mi-8 and Ka-32 helicopters with spillover devices with 5 tonnes capacity were alerted. -PTC NEWSView this post on Instagram
