58 Pak soldiers killed in border clashes, says Taliban followed by warning
PTC News Desk: Afghanistan on Sunday said that it had killed 58 Pakistani soldiers in cross-border clashes in response to what it called repeated violations of its territory and airspace. The Taliban government's chief spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said Afghan forces have captured 25 Pakistani army posts, 58 soldiers have been killed and 30 others wounded.
"Pakistan should expel the important ISIS members who are hiding there from its soil or hand them over to the Islamic Emirate...The ISIS group poses a threat to many countries of the world, including Afghanistan," Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid addressing a presser today.
In a sharp response, Taliban launched retaliatory strikes on Pakistan and killing 15 soldiers along Pakistan-Afghanistan border late on Saturday. The Taliban-led Afghan forces multiple Pakistani Army outposts along the Durand Line, including in the volatile Kunar and Helmand provinces.
Enayatullah Khowarazmi, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense, described the operation as a retaliatory measure in response to Pakistan’s violation of Afghan airspace. He said the clashes had concluded by midnight local time.
"If the opposing side again violates Afghanistan's airspace, our armed forces are prepared to defend their airspace and will deliver a strong response," Khowarazmi added.
Meanwhile Qatar has also expressed concerns over escalating border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging both the sides to exercise restraint and resolve tensions through diplomacy and dialogue.
