23-year-old Andhra girl Rajyalakshmi Yarlagadda found dead in US; family seeks help for funeral, loan repayment
PTC Web Desk: A 23-year-old Indian student from Andhra Pradesh, Rajyalakshmi (Raji) Yarlagadda, was found dead in her apartment in the United States. The recent Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi graduate had been actively looking for a job after completing her master’s degree in computer science, according to media reports.
Her body was discovered by her roommates, who said she had been unwell for a few days with a severe cough and chest pain. The incident reportedly occurred on November 7. A GoFundMe campaign launched by her cousin, Chaitanya Yvk, confirmed her passing and shared that Raji had gone to the US in 2023 with dreams of supporting her family in Karanchedu village, Bapatla district.
Chaitanya described Raji as a “bright and hopeful soul” who aspired to help her parents, who depend on a small piece of farmland for their livelihood. “Their crops and cattle are their lifeline, and Raji’s dream was to build a better tomorrow for them,” he wrote in the appeal.
The GoFundMe fundraiser has been started to assist with her funeral arrangements, educational loan payments and the repatriation of her body to India. “As the family faces this heartbreaking loss, we seek help from friends and well-wishers to meet the financial challenges ahead,” Chaitanya added.
A medical investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of her death.
According to reports, at least 11 Indian and Indian-origin students died in the US last year under various circumstances.
