Often mistaken for Indian roots, Tulsi Gabbard has no association with India. Her mother converted to Hinduism and gave all her children Hindu names, hence she conceived Hinduism.

Donald Trump picks Tulsi Gabbard, first Hindu Congresswoman to be spy chief

PTC News Desk: In a significant appointment, US President-elect Donald Trump has picked Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence. She is the first Hindu Congresswoman to be elected to such a prestigious position and will act as Trump's intelligence advisor.


Trump hailed Tulsi's appointment and her fearless spirit and said that being a former Democrat, she has the support of both the parties. "I am pleased to announce that former Congresswoman, Lieutenant Colonel Tulsi Gabbard, will serve as Director of National Intelligence. For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our country and the Feedoms of all Americans. As a former candidate for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, she has broad support in both Parties- She is now a proud Republican," Trump said in a statement.

"I know Tulsi will brng the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to out Intelligence Community, championing our Constitutional Rights, and securing Peace through Strength, Tulsi will make us all proud," he further added. 

Expressing gratitude for selecting her for the role, Gabbard on her official X handle said, "Thank you, Donald Trump, for the opportunity to serve as a member of your cabinet to defend the safety, security, and freedom of the American people. I look forward to getting to work."

She is an army veteran who served in US military for over two decades. Post 9/11 attacks, she enlisted in the Army National Guard. In 2004, she was deployed in Iraq and served in a medical unit. 

She parted her ways with Democratic party in 2022 and vouched for Donald Trump which very well aligned with his supporters.
