Who is Harmeet Kaur Dhillon? Trump's pick for assistant attorney general for civil rights
PTC News Desk: US President-elect Donald Trump has picked Harmeet Kaur Dhillon to head the Department of Justice’s civil rights division. Dhillon is an Indian-origin attorney and long-standing Trump ally.
"Harmeet has stood up consistently to protect our cherished civil liberties," Trump said in a post on Truth Social, his social media platform.
He lauded her legal efforts in challenging social media companies, pandemic-related religious gathering restrictions, and what he described as “woke policies” by corporations to discriminate against workers. "Harmeet will be a tireless defender of our constitutional rights, and will enforce our civil rights and election laws fairly and firmly," he further added.
Harmeet Dhillon is a staunch advocate of Donald Trump and is often known for her defence of the president and his policies. Dhillon's support remained unfazed even at a times it encountered with a blow with her fellow republicans. She was legal advisor of his 2020 Presidential campaign. She was also part of the group of lawyers who challenged the 2020 Presidential results.
She also garnered national attention when she recited Ardas prayer at Republican National Convention which Donald Trump was also a part of only a few days after surviving assassination attempt.

From Chandigarh to San Francisco
Harmeet Kaur Dhillon hails from Chandigarh and later immigrated to the United Sates. She grew up in a Sikh household rural North Carolina before moving to New York City.
She served on the editorial board of the Virgina Law Review of University of Virginia School of Law from where she received her law degree. Later in 2006 she founded her own law practice with prime focus on commercial litigation, employment law, and First Amendment rights leading her to gain prominence as political figure in Republican politics. She also served as vice-chairwoman of the California Republican Party and a member of the Republican National Committee (RNC).
She is often known for slated to take on high profile cases central to conservative cultural and legal battles. The nomination of Dhillon is yet to be approved by the Senate and if confirmed she will join a team speaheaded by Pam Bondi which wll further strengthen Trump's approach on civil rights agenda.
