PTC News Desk: In the middle of terrifying situation at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on December 14, 2025, one sheer act of bravery restored the faith in humanity and showed it is above all the religion.

Ahmed al Ahmed, a 43-year-old fruit shop owner, risked everything to disarm one of the gunmen, potentially saving countless lives in a moment.

A 15-second video doing rounds on social media shows a man hiding behind parked cars before running towards the gunman and fearlessly grabbing him by the neck and snatching rifle from him and pointing it towards him.

The man was identified as 43-year-old Ahmed al Ahmed, a fruit seller. He reportedly suffered two gunshot wounds during the attack and currently undergoing treatment.

According to his cousin, Mustapha, he was due to undergo surgery that night. He was simple walking past that area when he decided to step in despite having no experience with guns.

He is widely being praised for his bravery and swift action that probably saved countless lives. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also described him as a "hero".

The 50-year-old father was shot dead by police at the scene, while his 24-year-old son, Naveed Akram, was taken to hospital in critical condition and remains under police guard. Authorities confirmed there were no other attackers and have classified the incident as a terrorist attack targeting Sydney’s Jewish community.

The shooting occurred on Sunday evening during “Chanukah by the Sea,” a crowded public Hanukkah event. Gunfire caused panic as people fled the beach and nearby streets. Police later confirmed that 16 people were killed at the scene, including one of the attackers, and that the second suspect was arrested.
