India is model democracy inspiring the World: S Jaishankar

India is model democracy : During his address at an Intellectual meet in Gujarat's Rajkot, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar underscored India's escalating global influence. 

S Jaishankar also highlighted an incident from the BRICS summit, held under South Africa's presidency the previous year, where the South African President invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sit beside him. 


S Jaishankar symbolised how India was perceived as an inspiration by other developing nations. Jaishankar emphasised that India's achievements resonate as a beacon of hope for many nations.

He also stressed that India's success not only lies in its functioning democracy but also in its ability to inspire others worldwide. As India continues to grow in stature, its responsibilities and expectations from the global community also expand.

S Jaishankar clarifies: US and Canada issues are distinct amid attack plot allegations

EAM Jaishankar also described his visit to Tanzania where he received a rousing welcome from the local people of the country and shared that people turned out in large numbers and they knew that India provided them tap water.

Further highlighting the Jaljeevan Mission, S Jaishankar highlighted, “Indian companies have strengthened themselves in water technology, we were able to take this water technology to Tanzania and there to the people of Tanzania. People in Tanzania thinks that if we got water it's because of India." 

India's Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Tanzania is a program that aims to provide tap water to all rural households by 2024. The program will also implement source sustainability measures, such as water conservation, rain water harvesting, and grey water management.

The JJM is part of the Jal Shakti Ministry, which is the nodal ministry for the implementation of the scheme. The Government of India has extended Lines of Credit for water projects amounting to USD 1038.65 mn in Tanzania since 2012.
