Indonesia temporarily bans Elon Musk's 'X', know why
PTC News Desk: Elon Musk's X, once known as Twitter, hit a stumbling block in Indonesia. According to Al Jazeera, the social media site was banned in Indonesia for violating local pornographic and gambling rules.
According to a statement issued by Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the site was blocked because the domain had previously been used by sites that did not respect to the country's strict regulations against "negative" content such as pornography and gambling.
According to the media site, executives from X are already in contact with the ministry to resolve the matter. According to reports, they intend to write a letter to authorities declaring that Twitter now owns the X.com domain.
According to Usman Kansong, the ministry's director general of information and public communication, "Earlier today, we spoke with representatives from Twitter, and they will send us a letter to say that X.com will be used by Twitter."
This means that Indonesians cannot currently use the platform. The social media site has around 24 million users in Indonesia alone.
