Nuh violence: ‘Urge parties to refrain from violent actions,’ says US on clashes in Gurugram
Communal clashes in Delhi -NCR: A communal clash that broke out on Monday evening in Haryana's Nuh triggered by an objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal activist has now gripped by tension and chaos in several parts of the national capital and surrounding areas.
Haryana violence became global concern as now the United States Department of State said that the US calls for calm and urges parties to refrain from violence in response to ongoing clashes in Gurugram and surrounding areas.
Addressing the State Department, the official spokesperson Matthew Miller said, "I would say of – with respect to the clashes that obviously we would, as always, urge calm and urge parties to refrain from violent actions."
"With respect to whether we’ve heard from any Americans, I’m not aware of that. I’m happy to follow up with the – with the embassy," he said when asked about any American citizen impacted by the clashes in Gurugram.
The Haryana’s Nuh protest and violence now hit several places of national capital and the adjoining districts of Faridabad, Palwal, and Gurugram, leaving two home guards dead and dozens of people — including around 20 policemen — injured in the frenzy of violence that followed.
Internet services will remain suspended in Nuh, Faridabad, and Palwal districts, as well as three sub-divisions of Gurgaon, Sohna, Pataudi, and Manesar, till August 5.
According to the orders issued by the Haryana Home Secretary, the situation in certain districts remains serious and tense.
Receiving word of the protests, Delhi Police swung into action and ensured heavy security deployment in the area.
Security was also tightened in the adjoining districts of Faridabad, Palwal, and Gurugram.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar held a press conference over the communal violence in Nuh and said that "rioters would be held accountable and will be made to pay for the loss of properties.
We will make sure that those responsible for the violence in Haryana's Nuh district pay for the loss of property, said CM. He stated that 'those responsible for the violence would be held liable for all private property losses. However, any loss of public property caused by the communal violence will be borne by the state government.'
"We have passed an Act that provides that for any loss, the Government issues compensation for the loss to Public property but those who caused the loss are liable to compensate for it," CM Khattar said.
