Pakistan: Armed gunman opens fire in school, seven teachers killed
Pakistan, May 4: A gunman opened fire in a school in northwestern Pakistan on Thursday, killing at least seven teachers, Geo TV reported
This incident was an apparent retaliation to an earlier attack in which another teacher was shot dead. Both incidents took place on Thursday in the Parachinar area of Kurram tribal district near the border with Afghanistan, local media reported.

According to reports, the motive behind the killings remained unclear, and the teachers killed in both incidents belong to the country's Shi'ite Muslim minority.
The tribal district contains a majority Shi'ite population. The Shi'ite population in the area is often attacked by Sunni militant groups as part of the local Taliban movement.
Further investigation is underway, the local police added.
