Pakistani woman pleads to PM Modi for justice, claims husband planning second marriage in Delhi

PTC News Desk: A Pakistani woman has alleged that her husband deserted her in Karachi while secretly preparing to marry another woman in Delhi. The woman, Nikita Nagdev, has issued an emotional video plea to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking justice — a message that has since gained attention from social and legal groups in both India and Pakistan.

Nikita, who lives in Karachi, said she married Vikram Nagdev, a Pakistani-origin man living in Indore on a long-term visa, on January 26, 2020, in Karachi according to Hindu traditions. Vikram brought her to India a month later, on February 26, 2020. However, she claims her situation deteriorated rapidly. On July 9, 2020, Vikram allegedly left her at the Attari border on the excuse of a visa issue and forced her to return to Pakistan. Since then, Nikita says he has made no attempt to bring her back. “I kept begging him to call me to India, but he always refused,” she stated in her video.

Speaking from Karachi, she appealed: “If justice is denied today, women will lose trust in the system. Many women suffer mental and physical abuse in their marital homes. I request everyone to support me.”

According to reports, Nikita endured mistreatment soon after her wedding, saying that her in-laws’ behaviour changed drastically after she returned from Pakistan. The case had already surfaced once in Indore when, in May 2025, Nikita approached the Indore Social Panchayat, which recommended Vikram’s deportation. Collector Ashish Singh confirmed that an inquiry had been initiated and that further action would be taken based on the findings.
