PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and conveyed his condolences for the deaths at Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza.

PM Modi also reaffirmed India's commitment to providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, while maintaining India's long-standing principled stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

"Spoke to the President of the Palestinian Authority H.E. Mahmoud Abbas. Conveyed my condolences for the loss of civilian lives at the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza. We will continue to send humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people," PM Modi said.

In his meeting with Abbas, PM Modi voiced his concern about terrorism and violence in the midst of the ongoing war and restated India's stand on the matter.

"Shared our deep concern at the terrorism, violence and deteriorating security situation in the region. Reiterated India's long-standing principled position on the Israel-Palestine issue," PM Modi posted on X.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi has stated that India's position on the Palestine issue has been "longstanding and consistent."

"India has always advocated the resumption of direct negotiations towards establishing a sovereign, independent and viable state of Palestine living within secure and recognised borders side by side at peace with Israel. That position remains the same," he added.

PM Modi expressed his condolences for the loss of life in an explosion at a hospital in Gaza on Wednesday, saying he was "deeply shocked" by the incident. Concerned over the rising number of civilian casualties in the continuing Israel-Hamas conflict, the Indian Prime Minister said those guilty should be "held responsible."

"Deeply shocked at the tragic loss of lives at the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza. Our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, and prayers for speedy recovery of those injured. Civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict are a matter of serious and continuing concern. Those involved should be held responsible," PM Modi posted on X.

On Tuesday, an explosion at a hospital in Gaza City killed hundreds of people.
