Publicity-seeking Macron: Trump as he denies brokering ceasefire deal between Israel and Iran after cutting short G7 trip
PTC News Desk: The mounting tensions between Israel and Iran doesn't seem to be taking a back seat as it entered fifth day of continuous airstrikes from both the sides. Casualties are mounting with at least 24 killed in Israel and over 200 in Iran.
Meanwhile French President Emannuel Macron signaled a probable ceasefire between Israel and Iran this week brokered by US President Donald Trump following his sudden return from Canada cutting short his G7 trip. Trump however dismissed the claims and said that his cutting short the trip has nothing to do with a cease fire. Trump did not clarify what issue prompted his sudden return but concluded his post with a cryptic “Stay Tuned!”
'Publicity seeking President Emannuel Macron of France, mistakenly said that I left G7 summit, in Canada to go back to D.C to work on a Cease Fire between Israel and Iran. Wrong !He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emannuel always gets it wrong. Stay tuned !
Macron said that Trump is aiming at brokering a peace deal between Iran and Israel. "There is indeed an offer to meet and exchange. An offer was made especially to get a ceasefire and to then kick-start broader discussions," he told reporters at the G7 Summit. Axios reported that Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are likely to meet to discuss the nuclear deal and an end to the conflict.
