Taiwan Earthquake: 5 earthquakes rattle Taiwan in nine minutes
Taiwan Earthquake: After the devastating turn of events two weeks ago in which a severe, strongest and massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake jolted Taiwan and resulted in several casualties, five earthquakes struck Shoufeng Township, Hualien County, in eastern Taiwan on Monday within just 9 minutes.
The seismic activity occurred between 5:08 pm and 5:17 pm (local time).
CNA Focus Taiwan took to official handle of X and wrote, “Five #earthquakes struck Shoufeng Township, Hualien County, eastern Taiwan, in 9 minutes between 5:08 p.m. and 5:17 p.m. (UTC 8)."

A magnitude 4 earthquake rattled Hualien County and Nantou County, registering an intensity level of 4. Taichung and Yilan County experienced a level 3 intensity. Taitung County, Chiayi County, Yunlin County, Changhua County, Miaoli County, Taoyuan, Chiayi, Hsinchu County, Tainan, New Taipei, and Taipei felt a level 2 intensity. Kaohsiung, Hsinchu, and Keelung reported a level 1 intensity.
Later, at 5:09 p.m., a minor tremor of magnitude 4.4 struck 27.6 km south-southwest of Hualien County Hall, with a depth of 9.5 km. Hualien County felt an intensity level of 4, while Nantou County experienced a level 1 intensity.
Two earthquakes of magnitude 4.9 hit the same area at 5:15 p.m. and 5:17 p.m. respectively. In both instances, the maximum intensity recorded was level 4, felt in Hualien County.
No injuries or damage from any of the quakes had been reported at the time of publication.
Notably, the quake that struck Hualien City on April 3 killed several people and injured more than 1,000 others near the epicenter of the quake.
