Bangkok shopping mall shooting: At least three people were killed and four others injured in a shooting at a shopping mall in Bangkok, following which a 14-year-old was arrested on Tuesday.
According to CNN, the shooting occurred around 5 p.m. (local time) in Bangkok's Siam Paragon Mall, according to Police Colonel Noppadol Thiammekha, Pathum Wan Police Chief.
According to Thailand's Central Investigation Bureau, local authorities captured the suspect with a weapon and are determining the exact number of casualties.
"The attacker was arrested. In fact, he surrendered," Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said. He further said that the "situation is easing" as police cleared the scene at the Siam Paragon Mall.
According to CBS News, videos shared on social media showed individuals at the mall racing for the exits while the sound of suspected gunshots could be heard in the distance.
As reported by CBS News, the shooting at the shopping mall occurred just days before Thailand marks a year since one of the country's bloodiest days in recent history, when an ex-police officer armed with a knife and gun assaulted a nursery, murdering 12 adults and 24 children.
