YAD asks for criminal cases against rioters, Delhi Police for attack on farmers

Youth Akali Dal (YAD) has demanded registration of criminal cases against rioters, Delhi Police officials and others who were involved in attack on farmers, protesting peacefully at Singhu border on January 29. After submitting memorandum to SSP Faridkot YAD President Parmbans Singh Romana said that the farmers from Punjab and across the country were engaged in a peaceful protest around the Singhu, Tikri and Gazipur border with Delhi. He said over 80 farmers have sacrificed their lives in the fight against the three black laws during the protest. He said under a pre-conceived conspiracy to derail the agitation, the incident was blown out of proportion and an agenda was set up to remove the farmers from the protesting sites. He said that the sponsored goons and rioters armed with deadly weapons including sticks, lathis, and brickbats and petrol bombs charged towards the Singhu border on January 29 and gruesomely attacked the peaceful demonstrators. He said one youth- Ranjit Singh was nearly lynched by the rioters and Delhi Police. The YAD leader said it was clearly seen in the video footage that instead of taking action against the rioters, the Delhi police officials took Ranjit Singh into custody and on the site itself subjected him to third degree torture and put their shoes on his face, hair and beard and roughed him up mercilessly in order to eliminate him. He said that the viral video has been condemned by all the Punjabi, Sikh community and Guru Nanak Naam Leva sangat across the world. He said the act was aimed at promoting enmity between different groups and was prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, public tranquility and national integration. The YAD also condemned the central government for allowing BJP goons to indulge in provocative sloganeering including slogans like “desh ke gaddaron ko, goli maro saalon ko” at communally sensitive areas in the national capital. -PTC News
