Efforts on to set up courts in jails, says Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa The state government is working out modalities to set up special courts inside jails to try gangsters and criminals in major cases, said Punjab cabinet minister for jails Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. A special courtroom was already being set up inside the Patiala central jail on a pilot basis and efforts are being made to do the same across all jails in the state, Randhawa added. He said these courtrooms would help keep and would also Keeping in mind the security concerns and the fact that this would keep the gangsters and hardcore criminals confided within the jail premises while producing before the court, such special courtrooms are to be set up. Video conferencing facilities are already available inside jails. Just a day after taking charge, the minister who conducted a surprise inspection of the Patiala jail on Wednesday morning. Later, he told mediapersons that the department was going to recruit 420 additional staff to overcome the shortage. -PTC News
