19-Year-Old Tarn Taran Girl Trafficked To Dubai, Rescued

19-Year-Old Tarn Taran Girl Trafficked To Dubai, Rescued A 19-year-old Tarn Taran girl was rescued from human traffickers operating from Dubai, with the efforts of the intervention of the External Affairs Ministry. Simranjeet landed at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport on Sunday. The victim’s friend approached External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj through social media. The minister alerted her department and the Consulate General of India in Dubai, after which the victim, Simranjeet Kaur, was taken into custody from a house in Dubai. Gurjeet Kaur, the conduit who hails from Pandori Gola village and had allegedly lured her into the trap of the travel agent, has been arrested. A hunt has been launched to nab travel agent Ibrahim Pallam Yousuf, an NRI in Dubai who runs a firm, Al Mutamaiz Man Power. He used to supply house maids and skilled workers in the UAE. “A look-out notice is being issued for him,” said IG, Amritsar Zone, SPS Parmar. Simranjeet, in her statement to the police, said about a month ago, Gurjeet came to her house and suggested to her mother to send her to Dubai and subsequently arranged her meeting with the agent. She was told by the agent that she would have to work as a child caretaker in Dubai and all her expenses would be adjusted from her pay in Dubai. Simranjeet said her passport and mobile phone was taken by the employer, but she managed to call her mother from outside, who contacted a Tarn Taran resident and narrated the scene. Her mother, Sawinder Kaur, said: “I thank Sushma Swaraj and her ministry because of whom my daughter came back safely”. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old girl from Sheron village claimed that she, too, was duped by the same agent. -PTC News
