Akal Takht declares US resident Taminder Singh 'tankhaiya' for making changes to Guru Granth Sahib
Amritsar, May 3: The Akal Takht on Tuesday declared Taminder Singh, a US resident, 'tankhaiya' (guilty of religious misconduct) for making changes to Sri Guru Granth Sahib. He has been directed to appear in person within a month and present the entire record of his work.
In other decision, the Akal Takht directed Oankar Singh to immediately stop the work done in the name of 'Gurbani Sedhan' and submit all his record in person along with the draft to the Akal Takht.
On the recommendation of a committee of scholars regarding the demand for writing holy 'saroops' of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, it has been decided that this could be done after obtaining a letter of permission and fulfilling the requirements of the rules approved by the Akal Takht.

It was also decided that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, New Delhi, Sikh institutions, organisations and sects would work together for the release of Sikh prisoners who have already served their jail terms.
Further, about 21 Gurbani apps were got examined by the Akal Takht and several errors were detected in the text of 'Nitnem' alone. It has been decided that Gurbani apps should be updated within a month, failing which legal action would be taken.
