Bikram Majithia, other SAD leaders detained for protesting outside Manpreet Badal's residence

Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders including Bikram Singh Majithia have been detained by the Chandigarh police for protesting against the residence of Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal on Friday.

The SAD leaders were protesting against the Finance Minister along with the family members of those farmers who committed suicide. They were demanding compensation for those farmers and a government job to the family of them.

Meanwhile, the SAD leaders have staged a protest against the police outside the Sector 3 police station. The SAD leaders and the family members of the farmers were trying to raise their voices against the Congress government.

SAD leader Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that the family members of the farmers were here to ask Manpreet Badal if there was anything related to them in the Budget or not. Dhillon also said that they asked Chandigarh Police that they were protesting peacefully, then why were they treated like this? The police said that it was following the order of Punjab government, he added.

Earlier, during the protest, Bikram Majithia had said that it's been three years and now the government would be presenting its fourth budget but it never gave any relief to the farmers. None of the family members, of the farmers who committed suicide, were given government job, he added.
