Centre's silence indicates planning against farmers' protest: Rakesh Tikait

Amid farmers protest against farm laws 2020, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Monday claimed that the Centre's silence for the past few days indicated that it was planning some steps against farmers' agitation over the newly-enacted agri laws.

Rakesh Tikait has been in a limelight ever since his video went viral on social media in which he was seen crying.

Recently, Samyukta Kisan Morcha had announced several events to protest against the Centre’s farm laws 2020. These events included Pagadi Sambhal Divas, Yuva Kisan Divas, Daman Virodhi Divas and Mazdoor Kisan Ekta Divas.

Likewise, the Morcha is all set to announce further strategies to intensify the protest against farm laws. It may be recalled that the Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait had said that if the government won't repeal agri laws then they will march towards Parliament.

Even as the BKU leader had threatened the Centre that it would hold a tractor march across the country.

Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh, have been agitating at Delhi borders against farm laws for over 90 days.

Farmers have been protesting against the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
