Punjab: One more COVID-19 death in Malerkotla

Punjab reported a new death due to coronavirus after a 60-year-old woman from Sangrur died due to the pandemic. According to the information, she was admitted to a private hospital in Ludhiana. She was suffering from a kidney infection.

The woman was a resident of Malerkotla in Sangrur. Malerkotla has, so far, reported 11 new deaths due to the pandemic.

Meanwhile, 6 new cases of coronavirus were reported from Mohali, 3 from Ferozepur, 2 from Faridkot, 4 from Barnala, 7 from Bathinda, 5 from Muktsar, 18 from Jalandhar and 5 from Fazilka.

On Wednesday, a total of 122 COVID patients were declared cured and discharged while 5 deaths were reported from the state.

The coronavirus cases in Punjab has been rising since the government had announced relaxations in the restrictions. Recently, in a press conference, Captain Amarinder Singh had said that coronavirus peak can be here soon.

He had stated that “as far as indications are concerned, we will reach coronavirus peak… some say in July, August, September, or November, adding, that there is no clear cut method of its escalation. He had also asserted the need of wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
