COVID-19: DGCA extends ban on international flights, details inside

Ban on international flights extended: After the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the extension of COVID-19 guidelines, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) extended the ban on international flights.

The ban on international flights has been extended till March 31, the DGCA stated in a circular issued on Wednesday.

"In partial modification of circular dated 26-06-2020, the competent authority has further extended the validity of circular issued on the subject cited above regarding Scheduled International commercial passenger services to and from India till 2359 hrs IST of March 31, 2021," it stated.

"This restriction shall not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by DGCA," DGCA added.

"However, International Scheduled Flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on case to case basis," it said further.

The operations of commercial international passenger carriers were suspended on March 23, 2020, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

However, the domestic flights started on May 25 after the coronavirus cases in India started declining gradually.
