'CoWIN has become popular, 50 nations seek technology'

India’s indigenously developed digital vaccine delivery platform CoWIN is in demand and hence it is set to go places. CoWIN was being used amid the COVID-19 vaccination in India.

Chairman of the empowered group on Covid vaccine delivery platform RS Sharma said that as many as 50 countries of Central Asia, Latin America, and Africa were interested in India's indigenously developed CoWIN technology.

He said that the government was gearing up to help those who seeking CoWIN technology.

Furthermore, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed the IT responders of India to create an open-source version of CoWIN free of cost to those interested countries.

The portal is now available in 12 languages so that everyone can register and get vaccinated as soon as possible.

On June 21, 2021, India launched a free vaccine for all adults drive and CoWin hit a peak of 1.83 million API calls per minute at 12:04 pm, which means handling over 30,000 API calls per second.

Application Programming Interface (API) is defined as a set of protocols, procedures, and tools that allow interaction between two applications.

It is worth mentioning that India achieved another milestone in COVID-19 vaccination and surpassed the USA in the total number of COVID Vaccine doses administered.
