Former Indian cricketer Ashok Dinda joins BJP
Ashok Dinda Politics: Former Indian cricketer Ashok Dinda has joined Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in Kolkata. He was formally inducted into the party in presence of the Union Minister Babul Supriyo and state BJP vice president Arjun Singh.
Recently, Dinda had announced retirement from all formats of cricket. He represented the nation in 13 ODIs and nine T20Is, picking 12 and 17 wickets respectively.

Ashok Dinda's entry into politics with the BJP comes ahead of the Assembly elections 2021. The West Bengal Assembly Elections are set to be held this year as the current tenure will end on May 30. It is comprised of 294 seats.
Likewise, Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary joined Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata on Wednesday.

On Thursday, actor Payel Sarkar joined Bharatiya Janta Party in Kolkata in the presence of State party chief Dilip Ghosh and national president JP Nadda.
JP Nadda said that "The campaign will go on from March 3 to 20 in every Vidhan Sabha constituency.
He added that "We're making efforts to work towards making 'Sonar Bangla', with the inclusion of contributions of Swami Vivekanand, Rabindranath Tagore, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar in prestigious history of West Bengal.
