Chaitra Navratri 2024: List of delicious, yummy and easy-to-make dishes during Navratri fasting

Chaitra Navratri 2024: Chaitra Navratri is a nine-day festival that usually falls in the months of March or April, depending on the Hindu lunar calendar.

This year the festival is set to commence on April 9 and will culminate with the celebration of Ram Navami. 

Chaitra Navratri holds significance as it is believed that during these days, Goddess Durga bestows her blessings upon her devotees while residing on Earth.

On this special occasion, devotees worship Goddess Durga and her nine avatars - including Durga, Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandmata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Maha Gauri, and Siddhidatri with great zeal. 

During Navratri, devotees also make traditional snacks at home and sing bhajans to seek the blessings of Goddess Durga. Fasting is observed throughout the nine days, with some fasting on the first two or last two days of the festival. It's believed that Goddess Durga grants the wishes of those who fast during this period.

Yummy easy-to-make dishes during Navratri fasting 

Milk & juice
In order to stay hydrated while fasting, it is extremely important to drink plenty of fluids. You can even consume lemon water, coconut water, buttermilk, watermelon juice, and more.
 
Kuttu ki puri
Kuttu ki puri (buckwheat flour), is a type of flour commonly used in fasting recipes during festivals. It is rich in fiber, which can help improve digestion and regulate blood sugar levels. 

Sabudana Khichdi
Made with soaked tapioca pearls, peanuts, and spices, Sabudana Khichdi is a popular snacks during fasting

Fruit Chaat
Fruit chaat is the best option to fill your stomach while you are fasting. 

Makhanas
Makhana, also known as foxnuts or lotus seeds, is a popular ingredient in diet snacks during fasting periods. 

Rajgira Paratha
Amaranth flour kneaded into a dough and rolled into flatbreads, roasted on a griddle with ghee.

Sama Rice Idli
Idlis made from sama rice batter fermented with yogurt, served with peanut chutney.
