Unlock 1.0: Centre issues guidelines for opening of religious places, workplaces and restaurants

Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday issued a new set of guidelines for the opening of religious places, workplaces, and restaurants following the government's decision to unlock the country from lockdown in a phased manner.

The Union Health Ministry has also asked the persons above 65 years of age, persons with comorbidities, pregnant women, children below the age of 10 years to stay at home. For restaurants, only asymptomatic staff and customers shall be allowed. Entrance to have mandatory sanitizer dispensers and thermal screening provisions, it stated.

The physical distancing of at least 6 feet has to be followed in the restaurants, workplaces, and religious places. The use of masks has been mandated. Likewise, the Health Ministry has advised practicing frequent handwashing with soap for at least 40-60 seconds even when hands are not visibly dirty.

Spitting has been prohibited strictly and the installation of the Aarogya Setu application has been advised to all. The total number of coronavirus cases in India has been increasing. The country is having the world's 7th worst coronavirus tally with over 2.26 lakh of cases. On May 30, the central government extended the nationwide lockdown for containment zones and issued guidelines for Unlock 1.
