IMD predicts heavy rain in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted rainfall over major parts of northwest India including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh for coming days.

It stated that fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places very likely over major parts of northwest India —Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh — during the next 2-3 days.

The IMD also stated that "fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with heavy-very heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Gujarat, East Rajasthan and parts of central India from August 12-15.

Isolated extremely heavy falls also likely over Gujarat and East Rajasthan from August 13-15, it added.

IMD also stated that isolated heavy to very heavy falls over northern parts of Konkan and Goa from August 13-15. Meanwhile, moderate to severe thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over East Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours.
