Once he is extradited, the Chandigarh Police will take him into custody on a production warrant and question him in connection with the Sector 11 murder case.
PTC News Desk: Gangster Goldy Dhillon, the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Janaki Das, a cashier at Shri Kumar Medical Hall in Chandigarh's Sector 11, has been arrested in Spain with the assistance of Indian agencies. Dhillon had been operating his criminal network in Punjab, Chandigarh, and the Delhi-NCR region from abroad for a long time. Authorities are now expected to begin the process of bringing him back to India.
Once he is extradited, the Chandigarh Police will take him into custody on a production warrant and question him in connection with the Sector 11 murder case. Goldy Dhillon is already a wanted accused of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which had announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to his arrest. Security agencies had been searching for him for an extended period.
A resident of Rajpura, Dhillon initially became involved in cases related to assault, intimidation, and violations of the Arms Act. He later moved into extortion, targeting business owners. As police pressure increased, he went underground and began arranging shooters, weapons, and safe houses for larger criminal gangs.
According to investigators, he fled abroad in 2022 and subsequently strengthened his network across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi-NCR while operating from overseas. On June 13, Janaki Das was shot dead at Shri Kumar Medical Hall in Sector 11. After the killing, Goldy Dhillon allegedly claimed responsibility for the murder. He later contacted several Chandigarh businessmen from foreign phone numbers, demanding extortion money.
Police said that when business owners ignored calls from international numbers, Dhillon would send abusive voice messages and issue death threats. He reportedly boasted that he would continue carrying out crimes despite increased police security measures.
