Agra woman feeds husband poisoned kheer, buries him in bathroom; police recover body after 45 days
PTC News Desk: A woman has been arrested in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly murdering her husband and burying his body under the bathroom floor of their home. Police are also investigating whether other people helped her in the murder and in hiding the body.
The body was recovered after police and workers broke the concrete and plaster flooring in the bathroom. The investigation had been underway for the past 45 days after the husband, Surendra Sharma, was reported missing.
According to police, the accused woman, Ruby, tried to mislead investigators by actively taking part in the search for her husband. The case took a major turn when Surendra's brother expressed suspicion about her involvement.
Police said Ruby often cried in front of neighbours and acted as though she was devastated by her husband's disappearance. However, Surendra's family noticed several contradictions in her statements, which increased their doubts.
The body has been sent for a postmortem examination. Investigators are now trying to determine whether anyone else assisted Ruby in killing Surendra or burying his body.
The case is being compared to the 2025 Agra "blue drum" murder case, in which merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput was allegedly killed by his wife, Muskaan Rajput, and her partner, Sahil. His body was reportedly cut into pieces and sealed inside a blue drum filled with cement.
