Foreigners among 20 killed, several injured as massive fire engulfs restaurant in South Delhis Malviya Nagar

PTC News Desk: At least 20 people were killed while several others injured after a massive fire engulfed a restaurant in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar on Wednesday. Information about the blaze was received by the fire department at around 9 am, officials said. As many as ten firefighting vehicles were deployed at the site to douse the blaze.

The fire broke out at 8:50 am in the morning in the basement of the Lemon Green Restaurant, following which multiple fire tenders were rushed to the area. 


According to an official, two water tenders, two water bowsers, a quick-response vehicle and other firefighting units were sent after they received the distress call.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

A video showed some people jumping to the ground from the burning building to escape the fire. 

Soon after the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, in an X post, expressed grief over the incident.

“Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the devastating fire incident in Malviya Nagar. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured and for strength and courage to all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy," she wrote.
