Delhi: 28-year-old woman falls to death 72 days after marriage in Lodhi Colony, family alleges murder

According to police, Akriti, a resident of Pushp Vihar, was found injured after reportedly falling from the NDMC Flats in Palika Kunj on July 4.

PTC News Desk: A 28-year-old newlywed woman, Akriti Sutar, died after allegedly falling from a building in Delhi's Lodhi Colony on Saturday evening. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of being involved in her death.


According to police, Akriti, a resident of Pushp Vihar, was found injured after reportedly falling from the NDMC Flats in Palika Kunj on July 4. She was rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where doctors declared her dead.


Akriti had married on April 24, 2026, less than three months before the incident. She worked as a sales executive in Chhatarpur and had gone to work on the day she died.


Her family said they spoke to her on Saturday evening when she informed them that she had left her office. Soon after, her phone became unreachable. While searching for her, they were informed by Lodhi Colony police that she had died after falling from a rooftop.


Delhi Police said proceedings under Section 196 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been initiated, and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) has been notified to conduct an inquest.


Police said they are investigating all possible angles and that the inquiry is ongoing.
