Joined office, hosted party hours before death: Shocking details emerge as Delhi womans family alleges dowry murder
A senior police officer said that legal proceedings have been started and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate has been informed to conduct an inquiry.
PTC News Desk: The mysterious death of a 28-year-old newlywed woman in Delhi’s Lodhi Colony has led to serious allegations of dowry harassment and murder by her family. The case has become the third such incident in recent months to attract widespread attention.
The woman, Akriti Sutar, had been married for only two months. Her family believes she was murdered and has rejected claims that she died by suicide. Police say they are investigating the case from every possible angle.
Akriti, who lived in Pushp Vihar, was found badly injured on Saturday evening after reportedly falling from the third floor of the NDMC Flats at Palika Kunj in Lodhi Colony. The building is about 10 km away from her marital home, and police are still trying to find out why she was there.
Local residents found her lying on the ground around 9 pm and alerted the police. She had several injuries and bruises on her body, but investigators did not find any bloodstains at the scene. She was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where doctors declared her dead.
A senior police officer said that legal proceedings have been started and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate has been informed to conduct an inquiry. Police are examining all facts related to the case, and a post-mortem examination is currently being carried out.
Akriti’s family insists that she did not take her own life. They said she had returned to work on July 1 after taking leave for her wedding. On Saturday, despite being officially on leave, she went to her office and even hosted a small gathering for her colleagues before leaving.
