Dramatic turn of events in Noida dowry case: CCTV shows accused outside shop during crime; verification underway
Greater Noida additional deputy commissioner of police, Sudhir Kumar, later said cops cannot confirm the authenticity of that video of Vipin Bhati going viral on social media.
PTC News Desk: In a dramatic turn of events in Greater Noida dowry death case, the latest CCTV emerged shows that the victim's husband Vipin Bhati was not present at the scene when his wife was set ablaze on August 21 evening. The video shows that the accused was standing at the grocery store outside his house.
The footage is reportedly from a shop diagonally opposite from the Bhati house in Greater Noida's Sirsa village, which carries the time stamp of 5:45 pm, which according to Nikki's family is the same time of the alleged attack, as claimed by Kanchan, Nikki's sister.
Nikki and Kanchan were married into the same family, to two brothers, in 2016.
Greater Noida additional deputy commissioner of police, Sudhir Kumar, later said cops cannot confirm the authenticity of that video of Vipin Bhati going viral on social media. It was circulating only on social media, Kumar said, adding that it is too early to comment on the timings of the CCTV and the incident.
In another significant development, it has come to light that Vipin was havving an affair with a woman and was caught red-handed by Nikki and his sister-in-law.
In October last year, an FIR was filed in Noida after the girl with whom Vipin was having an affair alleged that he had beaten her when his wife caught them together. The FIR was based on her complaint, which accused Vipin of assault and exploitation.
