Firing at medical store by masked assailants near PGI in Chandigarhs Sector 11, cashier killed
Three attackers arrived on a scooter and targeted Kumar Medical Store, firing multiple rounds before fleeing the scene.
PTC News Desk: Three unidentified gunmen opened fire at a medical store in Chandigarh's Sector 11 near PGI on Saturday afternoon, killing the store's cashier.
The incident took place around 2:30 pm. Three attackers arrived on a scooter and targeted Kumar Medical Store, firing multiple rounds before fleeing the scene. Eyewitnesses said the assailants were carrying automatic weapons and began shooting indiscriminately as soon as they reached the shop. The entire attack lasted only a few seconds.
Sources said the injured, reportedly the owner of Kumar Medicos, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the PGIMER in a critical condition. Two other persons are also said to have suffered injuries in the incident.
Following the shooting, Chandigarh Police cordoned off the market area and launched an investigation using CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts.
According to police sources, the owner of Kumar Chemist had allegedly received threats from the gang of Goldy Brar and had been provided police protection. However, police have not officially confirmed the gang's involvement in the attack.
Investigators are currently examining whether the shooting was linked to an extortion racket.
Sources also said the owners had previously received extortion threats allegedly linked to the gang of Lawrence Bishnoi, and police are investigating that angle as well.
