Indian Air Force plane crashes in Assam's Jorhat, catches fire after landing
PTC News Desk: An Indian Air Force plane crashed at Jorhat Airbase in Assam after after reportedly catching fire following landing inside the military facility on Saturday.
There was no immediate official word on casualties, the extent of damage or the cause of the incident.
An Indian Air Force AN-32 transport aircraft crashed while landing at the Air Force base in the Rowriah area of Jorhat district, Assam, officials said.
The aircraft reportedly caught fire after landing within the airbase premises. However, no images or videos from the scene were immediately available, and authorities have not yet disclosed the extent of the damage.
A defence spokesperson said senior IAF officials rushed to the site soon after the incident. It is still unclear whether there were any casualties.
The Indian Air Force said firefighting teams were immediately deployed and operations were underway to control the blaze at the crash site.
Emergency response personnel also reached the area as efforts continued to secure the site and assess the condition of the aircraft.
