London-bound plane with 270 passengers onboard makes emergency landing at Bengaluru airport due to technical snag

PTC News Desk: A Virgin Atlantic flight heading to London with around 270 passengers had to make an emergency landing at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport on Sunday after developing a technical problem soon after take-off, according to sources at Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL).


The flight took off at around 8:20 am but faced the technical issue shortly after leaving the airport. The crew reportedly flew the aircraft in circles near Tumakuru for more than 30 minutes before deciding to return to Bengaluru.



“All passengers on board are safe,” sources at BIAL said, adding that the aircraft was brought back to KIAB as a safety precaution and made an emergency landing.


The exact nature of the technical problem was not immediately known. Authorities are looking into the cause of the incident.


The airline had not immediately commented on the incident. The flight was carrying about 270 passengers travelling to London.
