PTC News Desk: The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee announced holding a protest march to the office of Amritsar Deputy Commissioner on July 10 against the ban on 'Satluj', a film based on the abduction and killing of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami announced that the organisation will hold a protest march against the removal of the film Satluj and demand that the government lift the ban.

The march will end at the Deputy Commissioner's office, where SGPC leaders will submit a memorandum seeking the restoration of the film.

Dhami said Satluj tells the story of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra and his efforts to expose alleged human rights violations and seek justice for innocent Sikh youths who were allegedly killed in fake police encounters. He said the film also depicts the hardships faced by Sikh youth and highlights a period of alleged state excesses.

Claiming that the film brings these issues into the public domain, Dhami alleged that the government's decision to remove it was an attempt to suppress the truth. He called the move unfair and said the SGPC would continue to oppose the decision through peaceful and democratic means.

The protest march will conclude with the submission of a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, demanding that restrictions on the film be withdrawn.
