Rain lashes several parts of Delhi-NCR, IMD issues issues red alert for more showers, thunderstorms
PTC News Desk: Rain lashed several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Tuesday bringing respite from humid conditions.
Heavy rain, cloudy skies, and strong winds affected several parts of Delhi and the NCR region, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad, on Tuesday. The sudden change in weather led to incidents such as uprooted trees in some areas of the capital.
In East of Kailash, a large tree fell on parked vehicles. Fire and police teams reached the spot, but no injuries were reported. The IMD warned that rainfall could be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 70 kmph in some areas.
For the rest of Delhi, an orange alert remains in place, with forecasts of moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 50-60 kmph.
The afternoon showers brought much-needed relief from the heat and humidity that residents had been experiencing since morning.
Earlier in the day, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 30°C, its highest minimum temperature since July 2, 2024, when the temperature had reached 30.7°C.
