Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu could have avoided hugging Pakistan Army chief as it has largely impacted the Indian soldiers back here, said Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday.

Indian cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu met and hugged Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan in Islamabad.

He said that the reason behind his actions was that the Pakistan government was working for the opening of the Kartarpur corridor for Sikh pilgrims from the Indian state of Punjab.
